Food Safety Classes
The health department offers two kinds of food safety classes: the Food Handers Safety Class and the Farmers Market Food Safety Class. The first is offered on a monthly basis, and the second is typically offered on a seasonal basis.

Food Handler Safety Class
The Food Handler Safety Class teaches important safety techniques for food handlers. Food handlers are essentially anyone who works in the food industry, including restaurants, schools, caterers, daycares and temporary vendors.

The course is offered free of charge, and participants recieve a food handlers' safety card upon completion. Please note: this is not a ServSafe certification. More information about ServSafe is below.

Farmers Market Food Safety Class
The Farmers Market Food Safety Class is a separate class intended for vendors who operate at farmers markets in Greene County. This class is required for every vendor who wishes to obtain a seasonal farmers market permit. The course is offered free of charge. Class sizes are limited to 25.
